FAQ’s

1.  What are your tutoring hours?

I am here pretty much every day after school from 4:15 - 5:00 and also T/Th mornings from 8:15 - 8:45.

2.  What is the phone number for the Homework Hotline?

512 -448-8990

3.   What do I do if I’m absent?

Get a signed note from your parent and if it’s an excused absence, check the calendar in the room and the make up work folder for your assignment.  You have 2 days to complete it for full credit.

4.  How often will we get our grades?

I will work very hard to get your things graded and entered in a timely fashion.  Generally speaking, I will hand out/ email progress reports once a week.

5.  How many points off do you count off for late work?

Due to school policy, I must accept late work within 2 days of the original due date for a grade not to exceed 70.  This is not a good idea!!! Just get your work done on time!

6.  What do I do if I need to go to the bathroom?

You need to take care of that between the passing periods.  However, if it is an emergency, you get two hall passes per six weeks and you MUST wear the “Potty Pancho”

7.  What happens if I miss a quiz?

Quizzes cannot be made up, this is to encourage attendance and participation.  However, I will drop the lowest quiz grade every six weeks - so your empty grade will simply be dropped.

8.  What if I miss a test?

If it is an unexcused absence - you can’t.  If it is excused, you may retake ONE test per six weeks or simply let your 6 weeks test grade replace your lowest unit test grade.

9.  What can I do for extra credit?

Extra credit is not for those seeking to “make up” their grades, but rather for those looking at more opportunities to excel.  Extra credit may be offered on tests as a challenging question or projects, etc.  It is not my job to come up with, and grade, additional work for you to play catch up with the work you didn’t do in the first place!

10.   When will we get to have a free day?

hahaha…NEVER!  We will be working with our mad math skills on a daily basis - yay!

11.  How do you grade homework?

Homework will usually be based on completion and a few select problems might also be graded.

12. What is my homework for today or another day in which I was absent?

Check the “Homework Today?” section for assignments by day.

13.  How can I contact you?

The best way to reach me is through email: leanne.boldt@austinisd.org you can also call me 512 - 841 - 4189.

14.  For what reasons can I contact you?

You may contact me for any reason!

15.  Why do we have to know math?

I could go on forever on this topic.  Algebra, like all other topics in  high school, prepare you to be a well - rounded individual.  It’s true, not many of you are likely to pursue a career in mathematics, but you’re probably not very likely to pursue a career in history or Spanish either.  The state of Texas requires that all of these subjects be taught because they believe that all students should be prepared to pursue higher education.  And whether you choose engineering or nursing or business, upon graduating from Bowie High School, you’ll have to the tools necessary to be successful in your coursework.
